Chandigarh: Davesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh launched the facility of issuance of spot death certificate at cremation ground sector 25, here today in presence of K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer and other senior officers of MCC.
This facility has been started at cremation ground sector 25 and cremation ground at Manimajra by providing computer, printer with official records. The Mayor issued first death certificate of Late Manphali to her son on the spot.
The Mayor said that extending respect and sentiments of relatives of died persons, the MCC has started this facility, which will not extend great help to the NRI relatives, but also for them, who resides in other states of country.
He said that the certificates will be issued very next day of cremation at the cremation ground after proper verification from the head office. He said that certificates will be issued only in case of death at home, private hospital or in an accident occurred in Chandigarh.
If the death had taken place at six Govt. hospitals in Chandigarh i.e. PGI, GMCH, Sector 32, GMSH Sector 16, Civil Hospitals Sector 22, 45 and Manimajra, the certificates will be issued from these hospitals only.
The Mayor also inspected the toilet block area, where renovation work and new construction work is going on. He instructed the concerned Superintending Engineer (Public Health) to complete the project within stipulated time frame.
He also took round of the cremation ground and inspected the facilities provided there. He instructed the concerned Superintending Engineer (B&R) to provide one kiosk near the entry gate of cremation ground for issuance of death certificate by providing proper passage to the place.
