Kirron Kher inaugurates Community centre at sector 50, Chandigarh


Chandigarh: Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated the Community Centre in Sector 50, here in presence of Davesh Moudgil, Mayor, Heera Negi, area councillor, Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, other councilors of MCC, representatives of Residents Welfare Associations and prominent persons of the area.

While addressing the gathering, Member Parliament said that the Community centres offer an opportunity for people to become involved in a wide range of activities. They promote a sense of belonging and social inclusion.

They provide a place where the community can meet and engage in collective activities. She said the centres are strategically located to serve the citizens which are used for cultural programmes, to organise marriages and for other social activities.

She said the idea of the community centre is to offer a place where all members of the community from young to old can meet for various activities. All too often it’s the only such place available in a community.

Davesh Moudgil, Mayor said that City of Chandigarh has best Community Centres that cater for a variety of community activities

He said the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has started the system of centralized booking of all the community centres from the e-sampark centres of the city to make the process easy for citizens.

He said that the community centre building constructed covering area of 19824 Sq. Ft. in ground floor and spread in a plot area of 1.30 acre. Rupees 6.92 crores expenditure has been incurred in the construction of this building.

He said that this community centre has the capacity to accommodate 450 people in one time party and sufficient parking space having 55 four wheelers inside.

While speaking on the occasion, Heera Negi, area councilor said that the community centre has the best of its kind in Chandigarh and consisting of Kitchen & pantry, Hall, care taker room, office with reception, two bridal rooms with dressing & toilet, sampark centre, ladies & gents toilet blocks and stairs in ground floor. While Library, gymnasium, family room, two rooms with dressing and toilet, ladies & gents toilet, lobby and stairs in first floor.

She said that this community centre is a good asset to the residents of local area as they can organize parties and other programmes in very nominal government rates in their doorsteps.
