National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a charge sheet in a case RC-03/2018/NIA/LKW, which relates to the alleged looting of service weapons in October last year from two Police personnel posted at Khala-Kamalpur check post in Jhinjhana police station of Shamli in Uttar Pradesh.
NIA said that initially a case of Arms Act and other sections was registered by Uttar Pradesh Police at P.S Jhinjhana, Shamli. This case was subsequently taken over by NIA for investigation.
NIA further said on October 15 last year, three accused persons namely Gurjant Singh alias Jinta son of Kulwant Singh, resident of village Dhalavali, PS Gangoh, Saharanpur, Karam Singh son of Late Gurcharan Singh, resident of Village Rangana Farm (Rangana 2) PS Jhinjhana, District Shamli and Amrit Singh alias Amrat son of Palla Singh, resident of Gali No. 2, Sector 6, Vikas Nagar, PS Sadar, Karnal, Haryana were arrested by the UP Police. Looted service weapons and ammunitions were recovered from their possession after an encounter.
On October 18 last year, the accused Karamveer Singh alias Karma son of Ajit Singh, resident of village Ajijpur, PS Jhinjhana, District Shamli, U.P was arrested by UP Police and one illegal firearm and some ammunition were recovered from his possession.
Also accused Jarman Singh alias Garman Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, resident of village Ajijpur, PS Jhinjhana, Shamli was arrested by Punjab Police.
Four country made firearms and ammunition were also seized at the instance of accused Jarman Singh on on October 22, claimed NIA.
During investigation, it was found that the arrested accused Jarman Singh and others looted service weapons from Police personnel with an intention to further use these weapons to eliminate a senior political leader of Punjab due to ideological and religious fanaticism, added NIA.
It came on record that Jarman Singh was highly motivated and radicalized to the cause of Khalistan. He not only used to share Khalistan related videos with his friend circle but he was also associated with a number of people of same ideology through various social media platforms. He is fanatic to the core and hence got upset with the news of desecration of Gurugranth Sahib, said NIA.
He allegedly tried to arrange automatic illegal weapons through various channels i.e. by soliciting the same from different people but after having failed in his quest; he thought to use the illegal weapons he had.
He tried to practice fire with 30 bore country made pistol watching YouTube videos. After having failed in his attempts to obtain weapons of his requirement, he carried out this incident in association with his associates.
Jarman Singh was also a member of a Whatsapp group named Referendum 2020 where they used to discuss about formation of Khalistan.
Charge Sheet has been filed in the Special NIA Court at Lucknow, U.P against Gurjant Singh @ Jinta, Jarman Singh @ Garman Singh, Karamveer Singh @ Karma, Karam Singh and Amrit Singh @ Amrat u/s 120 B, 307, 392 and 397 read with 34 of IPC, section 27 of Arms Act and sections 13(1), 16, 18 and 20 of UA(P) Act, said NIA.
