155 bags of children's meals found at animal fodder,  Workers were selling for cash


NEW DELHI : The Uttar Pradesh government has taken action against 28 employees in the nutritional meal scam in Rae Bareli and Kannauj. There was a stir after midday meals meant for children were found in an animal fodder godown in Rae Bareli's Salon block.

The matter was further ordered for investigation by the state directorate.

Recently, about 155 bags of children's meals were found at an animal fodder godown in the Salon block of Rae Bareli. Upon weighing, it was found to be 9,300 kg.

At least 17 Anganwadi workers were dismissed as soon as the matter came to light. Apart from this, orders have been issued to suspend four supervisors and chief servants. Four Anganwadi workers were suspended and two others booked for mismanagement in the distribution of nutritional meals to children in UP's Kannauj.

Also, a chargesheet has also been issued against Pratapgarh DPO Pawan Yadav for negligence and has been instructed to take action. Godown operators were also sent to jail.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the nutritional meals were sent to be distributed in anganwadis of Pratapgarh's Rampur Khaas and other areas. But instead, it was kept in godowns and illegally sold to people.
